There are half a million diabetics in Bulgaria. Analysis of patients shows that the virus is more severe in the elderly, men compared to women, and diabetics. This was stated to BNT by the endocrinologist Prof. Dr. Anna-Maria Borisova.
“In Milan, the condition was very bad; for a quarter, 27% were diabetic patients with COVID,” he said.
“The virus destroys insulin cells, which maintain normal sugar for patients,” added Professor Borisova.
“COVID also affects impotence. Many young men boast that they will transmit the virus, but in the next few years they may become powerless as a result of COVID,” said the endocrinologist.
