A woman was arrested as the leader of a gang extorting debtors from her husband’s company in Kostinbrod. She and five other people were arrested on March 23.
The leader was married to a man who owns a quick loan law firm and works at Kostinbrod. However, instead of helping in business, he began to blackmail people who delayed their contributions.
The gang has been operating since January 2019, the prosecutor’s office said. Besides the woman, there were 5 other people in it, each with a strictly defined task.
The rumor in Kostinbrod says that the leader and one of the participants had an intimate relationship.
The gang’s victims were mostly low-income, low-educated people. Some of them were beaten and then forced to repay all of their loans ahead of schedule.
In recent days, the gang has promised some borrowers that they will forgive their loans if they vote for a particular party, it learned “24 hours.”
Instead, however, the group was detained during a CDCOC operation on March 23.
During searches of their homes and cars, the anti-mafia found mobile phones and SIM cards, lists of names, addresses and numbers, bats and other evidence.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office accused the six of being a gang of extortion and beatings. They noted that this is the first group of its kind with a female leader.
On Thursday, the state prosecutor’s office demanded that all six remain in custody. The court ruled after the editorial end of the issue.
