Another doctor lost his life after falling ill with Covid-19: Professor Ivan Manchev, former vice dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Thrace and director of the University Clinic of Neurology, has died, reports clinica.bg.

After contracting the coronavirus, he was hospitalized at the “Prof. Stoyan Kirkovich” University Hospital in Stara Zagora.

Prof. Dr. Ivan Hristov Manchev, MD was born in Plovdiv. He graduated in 1978 from the Sofia Academy of Medicine. From 1981 to 1990 he worked as a fellow in the Department of Neurology of the POB – Burgas. In 1983 he graduated in neurology and in 2006 he graduated in General Medicine. Since 1985, he has worked as an associate in the “Comprehensive Long-Term Focused Program for the Study of Man and His Brain.” As part of the program, he prepared a dissertation for the degree of “Candidate of Medical Sciences”, which he defended in 1989.

In 2010, Prof. Manchev was nominated for the “British Standard for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)” by the UK’s NARIC. In 2011 he received the title of “Doctor of Medical Sciences” in neurology.

In 2014 Professor Manchev was elected an academic of the Slavic International Academy of Sciences, Education, Art and Culture.

He was a national consultant in neurology for the regions of Stara Zagora, Sliven, Burgas and Yambol, and also participated in the training of specialists in neurology of Stara Zagora.
