We are allocating 52 million BGN, which will help families with children up to 14 years old, where parents have had to stay home and take care of their children while schools, nurseries and kindergartens are closed due to the pandemic.
This was announced by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during today’s government session. The Prime Minister pointed out that with the funds allocated by the cabinet today, the total amount under this measure increases to BGN 73 million, the government press service announced.
“With the prior transfer of funds under the measure, we have helped more than 41,000 families,” the prime minister recalled, adding that the request for the new funds will now be published.
The benefit is paid proportionally for the days of unpaid leave, since the amount for one month is BGN 650 for families with 1 child and BGN 975 for families with 2 or more children. The measure has an income criterion, which was increased to 150% of the minimum wage, which means that a family with one child must have an income of up to BGN 2,925, and with two or more, up to BGN 3,900.
