The famous German virologist Christian Drosten gave a poor prognosis for the development of the coronavirus pandemic in the next 2-3 weeks. In his popular podcast, the scientist said: “Shortly after Easter (April 4) we will have a situation like Christmas.”
This is in line with forecasts of a significant increase in infections, recently published by the German Robert Koch Institute. According to Dorsten, the situation will become “drastically more difficult” mainly due to the spread of new strains. “This point of view is not the fantasy of individual experts, but rather the official view of what awaits us in the coming weeks,” he said, Dariknews.bg reported.
According to Drosten, around 75% of new infections in Germany are due to the British strain, which is much more contagious. According to him, patients aged around 50 years and over, who have not yet been vaccinated, will suffer the most.
