Almost 60,000 people have already signed up for the vaccine, Health Minister Prof. Kostadin Angelov said today in Varna. According to him, however, there are constant hacker attacks against the electronic system. Apparently someone really wants us to fail, but it won’t happen, Angelov said. And he clarified that “Information Services” has a team that works 24 hours a day and sends information to the Ministry of Health every hour. Vaccination is progressing well, and if it continues, by the end of the summer we will have achieved our goal: 70 percent of Bulgarians are immunized, Angelov said.

Despite the increase in the number of infected people, there is no cause for concern, the minister added. According to him, starting today in Sofia he will start meetings with representatives of the country’s RHI and all those involved in controlling the situation. Hospitals will withstand the pressure, they have everything they need, was Angelov’s position. According to him, at this time there are no critical points in the country, there are places where the capacity of beds is filled and transformations are being made to increase their number. According to the minister, this is valid for Kyustendil, Burgas, Shumen and various medical institutions in Sofia.

Angelov added that there is still no talk of changes in the students’ online and physical attendance schedules. His position was that people should be treated with the utmost justice, since there are areas like Varna and Veliko Tarnovo where the incidence is low and in other regions the situation is more tense.

In Europe, there is already talk of a Bulgarian model to solve the pandemic crisis, added the minister. According to him, the reason is that our country has managed to achieve the best results in the field of morbidity and mortality, although the measures in our country had a much lower severity index. At the beginning of the vaccination campaign, Bulgaria did two things that other countries are now beginning to implement, Angelov said. According to him, it is about the Oxford vaccination of people over 55 and the opening of green corridors.

The minister also said that vaccination of members of electoral commissions at all levels should be complete by March 10. He added that the summer tourist season is being actively and successfully worked out, and the idea is to ensure maximum security for both arriving guests and Bulgarian citizens. According to Angelov, the priority in the course of mass vaccination will be those who work in the tourism industry.
