The earthquake was so strong that it was felt in parts of Bulgaria and northern Macedonia. The earthquake scared a lot of people in Bulgaria, according to BAS. The earthquake was felt in the upper floors of the districts of Kardzhali, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and even Sofia, which is located 387 km from the epicenter of the earthquake.

Destruction was reported in several small towns in the earthquake area. Photos of collapsed or damaged houses were also posted, as well as several churches.
The Greek media write about older people who were buried by collapsed buildings, but who were removed with the help of other citizens or firefighters. So far no victims have been reported.
Thousands of people have fled the streets of Larissa, Thessaloniki and other cities. The strongest earthquake was followed by at least two aftershocks with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale.
Seismic activity is expected to continue, BAS said.
No Bulgarian citizens were injured in Greece, the Foreign Ministry announced.
