A terrible death happened to the Olympic champion Alexander Blinov. The body of the 66-year-old former equestrian athlete was found very close to his home after the search continued for nearly a month. Blinov has been missing since February 6, when he stopped taking calls from relatives. The cause of his death was frostbite.

The body of the two-time Olympic medalist was found about 150 meters from his home in the equestrian complex of the village of Andreevskoye (located near Moscow).

One of Blinov’s close friends, Alexander Evdokimov, said the legendary athlete was unable to make it home due to heavy snowfall and subsequently frozen to death. His body was found in the snowdrifts.

According to Evdokimov, on February 6, Blitov was on personal business in the city of Mozhaisk. He returned by taxi, but due to the accumulation of drifts and snowfall they left him half a kilometer from his house.

Alexander Blinov won gold and silver medals in equestrian sports at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He was a multiple winner of competitions in the then Soviet Union.
