Parrots and a canary greet the prime minister at work

Putin and Queen Elizabeth have dogs from their kennel. And one ate Dogan’s peacocks

A stork, an eagle, a bear and even a bull are among the animals adopted by Boyko Borisov in zoos across the country. And while he was mayor of Sofia, he was genuinely concerned about the fate of the monkeys and the elephant Artaida.

Borisov’s true love, however, is for dogs. The bigger the better. Borissov is also among the apologists for the as yet unrecognized breed “Bulgarian Sheepdog”, which most cynological federations consider simply a Karakachan variety. It even has its own kennel.

He raised dozens in the courtyard of his house in Bankya, and for years in the prime minister’s villa in Boyana. There and now are his two favorites, Bucky (again a shepherd, but not Bulgarian) and Borko.

Borko is actually a traditional name for Borisov’s favorites. In general

– only that the breed is heavy. All of Borissov’s guests are jumping off the bark of Borko, say people close to the prime minister.

The current Borko is the successor to Borisov’s previous favorite four-legged friend, who was again named Borko. Unveiled 14 years ago, the large and healthy pastor Borisov led a thick chain in 2007 to the polls in Bankya, where he voted in the European elections at the time. The first Borko, and his current successor, are competitors in dog shows. Borisov had many four-legged athletes.

In 2015, Borisov also bragged on Facebook about Caucasian shepherd Charlie, whom he also raised as a baby.

However, Borisov not only has dogs, his kennel has a world champion. And at one point he gave cubs to all the world leaders, even before he became prime minister.

And what do Vladimir Putin, Queen Elizabeth, George W. Bush, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Ahmed Dogan have in common? The answer is that they all received a pallet as a gift from Boyko Borissov. As Secretary General of the Home Office, he sent the puppy Caesar to Queen Elizabeth II under the then British Ambassador Ian Sutter. Zana is the name of the little Bulgarian shepherd, who was sent to the then Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg-Gotha as a gift for King Juan Carlos. The king also had a gift from Borisov at his court: the Arika woman.

Political enmity aside, for the 50th birthday of honorary MRF leader Ahmed Dogan Borisov he gave away a black puppy. People in the movement remember that for a long time the dog was in the yard of Sokola’s stables, but when it grew up it ate one of the peacocks and had to find a new home.

In 2010, the prime minister gave a puppy from his personal kennel to Russian President Vladimir Putin while visiting Bulgaria. At birth, the cub was named Yorgo. Later

and among the many proposals, Buffy was chosen. Putin’s mascot became a real star in Russia and even became the hero of a song that was a cover of Philip Kirkorov’s hit “Just Give” under the name “Give a puppy”. The Russian head of state received his gift with a big hug. Years later, he bragged about growing Buffy with a photo of games in the snow.

Other favorite animals of the prime minister are small birds. Until recently, 2 parrots kept company in his office at the Council of Ministers. This tradition of being greeted by birds in the workplace dates back to his years as mayor.

Even when he was mayor of Sofia, he kept the canary Victor in the municipal building. The yellow songbird even inhabited his office as prime minister for a time and found his first half. On a visit to Varna, Borisov received a gift – the Canarian Victoria. He received it with a complete feeder and a vaccination passport, which reads: “Vaccinated against rabies, BSP and MRF.” Then the prime minister becomes a father-in-law and Victor finds company in a lonely cage.
