On Thursday night, it became clear that an Englishwoman had been killed with a shovel in Veliko Selo’s Novo Selo, and the police were investigating a love drama or robbery. The victim’s name is Rose R., 60 years old.
8 years ago she bought a house in the village and lived as a Bulgarian housewife. He raised dogs and pigs in his home and had a vegetable garden.
He was friendly and friendly with his neighbors and other townspeople, but he wasn’t very sociable, Monitor writes.
On Wednesday, Rose was supposed to visit the post office, but after she did not go and did not answer the postman’s phone calls all day, the postman was worried and therefore the next day she called the mayor of the village Hristo Hristov.
He asked two other English people from the village to check what was happening to his compatriot.
When they went to Rose’s house, they found an unknown man in muddy boots walking through the rooms. When asked what he was doing here and where the owner was, the man replied embarrassed that she was absent and had hired him to feed their dogs. Then the stranger suddenly spat on his heels and ran away.
The two Englishmen told the incident to Mayor Hristo Hristov, who called the district police inspector, Petar Petrov, and the two went to Rose’s home.
In a dependency, a police officer found the body of an elderly woman covered in blood. He was taken for an autopsy, which will have to clarify the cause of death.
According to the initial inspection, it was a violent death, most likely caused by a hit with a hard object. While waiting for the arrival of the criminalists from the Regional Directorate, Mayor Hristov and police officer Petrov decided not to be idle, but to search for the perpetrator themselves.
Initially, they thought that the killer had left the village on the main Sofia – Varna road, from where he would try to hitchhike by car. At that time, there was a construction brigade on the road, whose people declared that they had not seen anyone leave the town all day.
Then the mayor and the policeman decided that the killer was probably still hiding in the town and began searching the houses along the main road. After finding no one in the first uninhabited houses, they headed to the home of a lonely old man.
And there, the professional style of Inspector Petrov “smelled” that the owner had an uninvited guest. Before he could understand what was happening, the guest was knocked to the ground in an instant and neutralized by the policeman, who handed him over to his later colleagues.
According to information not officially confirmed by the police, the detainee confessed to the murder during the first interrogation. However, it is not yet clear what the reason is. According to people from Novo Selo, between Rose, 60, and the man half her age, there were intimate feelings, and the two had known each other for about a year. Rose’s acquaintances reject such a claim.
According to another version, the young man had no feelings, but only used the English woman to ask for money for drinks and cigarettes. And when she refused, you angrily decided to kill her and steal her. However, they are still only versions that investigators must confirm or reject in the course of procedural-investigative actions.
According to the announcement of the bulletin of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior in Veliko Tarnovo, the detainee, as an accessory to the crime, is 26 years old from Gorna Oryahovitsa. It is not specified if he has a criminal record and previous convictions. The investigation of the case continues under the supervision of the Veliko Tarnovo District Prosecutor’s Office.
News of Rose’s murder shocked British settlers living in the region. “Roxy was a beautiful person inside and out, she was the life and soul of the company. Roxy was dedicated to her animals, my last conversation with her was about one of her rebellious rescued dogs, she begged for help and advice, she loved their piglets more than anything.
What a monster could make such a beautiful lady. I’m glad they caught him fast.
One thing that got me thinking is that we don’t all feel safe in small towns. Please ladies, especially those of you who live alone, do not expose yourself to situations that put you at risk, we really don’t know everyone as well as we think, ”Joanna Heaney wrote on her profile.
“Roxy was a vital woman who loved her life in Bulgaria. Ending her life in this disgusting way is beyond sad. I hope she has not suffered,” added Sandra Peterson.
