Prof. Kantardjiev – Diseases alerted about dangerous coin infection

The coinfection of SARS-CoV-2 with the respiratory syncytial virus was established by specialists from the National Reference Laboratory. Respiratory syncytial virus is especially dangerous for the elderly and premature babies.

This was commented on by the head of the National Institute of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD), Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, quoted by “Trud”.

For the period 06.02.2021-12.02.2021 for influenza viruses in NCIPD 126 samples were analyzed, which are negative. Due to the presence of other respiratory viruses, 2 samples from children up to 16 years of age were selected, of which one child tested positive for bocavirus.

24 samples from patients older than 65 years were analyzed for coronavirus coinfections.
