Grigor Dimitrov dedicated his victory over Alex Bolt to his hometown of Haskovo. The Bulgarian №1 rocket did this by writing Haskovo and a heart on the camera, which is traditionally signed by the winners of Melbourne’s big courts.
In his interview on the court, the 21st World Cup did not fail to thank the huge support of the Bulgarian fans in the stands, which again made him feel “at home away from home”.
“I am happy to go through this round, it is never easy, especially when you play against a representative of the hosts. I enjoyed the game, I am glad to have a new opportunity to act,” said Dimitrov.
“I wasn’t nervous, I was just trying to focus on the right things. You don’t know how many more games you’ll play, so I try to enjoy it to the fullest. I haven’t played in front of the spectators for a long time, that helps too.”
“It is always special when you feel at home away from home. When I see the flag, I am always proud of Bulgaria. It is an honor for me, thank you for this opportunity,” concluded Grigor.
