The former prime minister of Kosovo and current president of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (KLA), Ramush Haradinaj, says that the reunification of Kosovo with Albania is not related to the agreement that will be reached with Belgrade, but is an internal decision from Pristina, writes the local newspaper Gazeta Express.

According to him, the unification should take place in the same way that the Kosovo army was created, the Trepca metallurgical plant was nationalized and the country’s independence was declared in 2008, FOCUS reported.

According to Haradinaj, the unification of Kosovo with Albania depends on several things.

“If the obstacles posed by Serbia and part of the international community regarding our recognition or membership in NATO persist, given that security is a priority, we have no choice but to go to a referendum on unification with Albania,” he said. Haradinaj.

He explained that the issue of reunification between Tirana and Pristina is different from the past, because before the EU had to receive the approval of Serbia, and now this is not the case.

Haradinaj added that if he does not become president of Kosovo, another solution will be found, which will be reached by consensus between institutions and parties.
