Former Minister of Defense Georgi Ananiev died of COVID-19. Ananiev was one of the popular figures of the UDF, part of the UDF government with Prime Minister Ivan Kostov. He would have turned 71 in April.

Georgi ananiev He was born on April 12, 1950 in the Radomir village of Kosacha. He graduated from the Pernik Technical School of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering and the Sofia Institute of Mining and Geology. Before joining the politician, he worked as an engineer in various companies, including the Heavy Machinery Plant in Radomir.
He was Member of Parliament of the Union of Democratic Forces at the 37th National Assembly.
