In Vladivostok, however, tens of thousands took to the streets to protest the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Protests followed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Omsk, Smolensk, Nizhny Novgorod, Khabarovsk, Perm, Irkutsk, Chita, Tomsk, etc. People faced law enforcement at minus -30, -40 degrees! In addition to the release of Navalny, protests have called for the resignation of President Putin against corruption in the government. More than 3,000 people have been arrested and the police have complained that several uniformed men have been injured and there has been no police violence. We have heard this here, many times.
All these people do not believe the official information from the Kremlin that the Navalny poisoning was organized, that he himself was involved in a conspiracy and a show, that the case with him was planned to sanction Russia, and so on.
These versions are accepted willingly and with some malice in Bulgarian circles. A well-known BNR presenter (happy holidays on radio – 86 years on the air) allowed himself to be ironic to Navalny, calling him “Alexei the Immortal” because “Novice” is supposed to be scary, but the poisoned survived. Only a person who has not been in a coma, on the border between life and death, and sometimes beyond (Navalny 19 days, and other victims for more than a month …) can speak such idiocy.
The same people pretend not to believe in the movie about Putin’s palace for more than a billion dollars. They repeat the Bulgarian Prime Minister’s claims that the millions and gold in his drawer are a staging of the mysterious Mata Hari, which was sent by President Radev, that a drone is watching him even in the bedroom, etc.
Supporters of Putin and Borissov know very well that the videos and photos are real. They also know that they both have in their hands all the institutions of Russia and Bulgaria, and if they had really fought corruption, it would have been half as small. But they produce it and they also have their own oligarchs and oligarch-enemies. They practice the capture of foreign companies and organized crime at all levels. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, the services and the Ministry of the Interior are their bats for the inconveniences.
We live with the feeling of being in the days of Stalin, when Felix Dzerzhinsky said: If you are not in prison yet, it is not your fault, but our omission.
That ugly and terrible things are repeated in a new way, but no less ugly, is also demonstrated by the fact that the government floods us with invigorating information, which is false in more than 90% of the cases. For example, that our economy is prospering and the income of the population has multiplied by many. The truth is that we are the poorest, sickest and most dying in the EU. The statistics of the WHO and the EU up to the successes in the fight against the pandemic also do not coincide with the statements of the authorities and the NIGHT in our country. A metro station has failed, we are told that the culprit is the Perlovska river, which is not even a river by definition … Borisov drums that we have been receiving Azeri gas since January 1 turned out to be false. Sachev brags about how much the government is doing for the crown-stricken business has led people to protest and demand his resignation. Ivan Geshev fought corruption like a tiger, but he does not dare to mention, much less investigate the recordings and photos of Peevski, Dogan, Borisov …
Borissov’s fake followers on the Internet must be “enjoying” his international success, but real people see him slavish in Washington, Brussels, Moscow, Ankara, Berlin. And if he does it for Bulgaria, as he claims, he does it in the worst way.
Bulgarians have to deal with this huge discrepancy between the truth and the official information.
In the civilized world, people are angry, protesting, fighting for their rights. And the government complies. If not, new protests. Governments are changing and this is not a drama. Only in post-Soviet Russia and Bulgaria, where the Russian oligarchic-mutren model is reproduced under indigo, it is believed that whoever has taken power has the right to do with him what he wants and as much as he wants. Let citizens and society ruin it and rejoice that they are alive …
This defines us as a dictatorship. The rulers, their media, and the trolls will continue Hitler’s form of propaganda, but the truth must be dearer to us. It’s time.
