Losing your job, your car, and your book. This was experienced by a Plovdiv resident who fell into the “law hole” after parking the wrong way on Ruski Boulevard.
Yordan Maystorov has already had his driver’s license revoked for 44 days due to a suspicious drug result. The young man from Plovdiv told TrafficNews how he was labeled a “drug addict” without feeling guilty.
Maystorov is a driver for a private company. On December 9, 2020, he stopped his car on Ruski Boulevard to visit a mobile phone store. In just seconds, a police patrol arrived at the scene.
“Yes, I was guilty and did not argue. I gave him my book and they wrote an act for me. While one in uniform was writing the fine, the other asked me if I had undelivered deeds. I was amazed because I took my renewed testimony only the day before. I explained to them that I had gone to the traffic police the day before and had paid my fines. However, the uniformed men told me that I should follow them to the Second District. I agreed and we left. “A search was made in the police building and it turned out he had an undelivered receipt, “says Jordan.
However, after the fine was handed over, one of the policemen asked him “Why does he look strange and why does he roll his eyes?”
“They asked me if I was drunk or drunk. I was in a state of shock, it was still 2:00 p.m., I don’t use drugs and it wasn’t alcohol. Still, while driving, I make a living. Despite my explanations, they said that they would have to test me. They called their colleagues, whom we waited for 40 minutes, “continued Maystorov.
Meanwhile, the Plovdiv resident was in a hurry to meet at the bank. At 3:00 p.m. he had to sign important documents.
After 40 minutes of waiting, the traffic police team appeared. The alcohol test came back negative. A drug test followed.
“All the indices for the drug types were red, that is. Negative. However, there was no reaction to amphetamine, neither positive nor negative. They told me that in this situation I would be detained for 24 hours. I did not agree, never I’ve used drugs. I challenged the result and said I wanted a blood sample, “said the Plovdiv resident.
They took him on patrol to the Surgeons. There they took the man’s blood and returned him to his cell. Meanwhile, his car was left without a license plate, and his license and coupon were confiscated.
“They wrote a drug report, they took my documents, they wrote down my car numbers. In addition, a pre-trial process was started against me.” After being detained for 24 hours, I turned to a lawyer, “said Jordan. Thus began the long wait for the experience.
Blood tests for drugs are processed only in a laboratory in Sofia. It takes 45-60 days to prepare the result, during which time Jordan is left without a job, money, car and social life.
Days ago the result was ready.
“It turned out that he had no trace of any type of drug, and of course amphetamines. However, the experience was not given to me, but remained in the district. The uniformed men told me that the documentation would be delivered to the supervising prosecutor. However, it will take longer, at best a month, for the case against me to end. I’ll be unemployed for another month, “Jordan said.
The Plovdiv resident insists that he will claim his rights in court. Once the process against you is over, you will file a claim for material and non-property damage caused to you.
“I read a lot during those 43 days. It turned out that, according to US studies, 15% of the drag checks give incorrect or questionable results. The procedure for people like me, when the result is not clear, is like for shaken drivers. Guilty blameless for a gap in the law, “concludes Yordan Maystorov.
