A 47-year-old Bulgarian citizen was among those killed in the Madrid blast this afternoon, the Foreign Ministry said. Our embassy in the Spanish capital was informed of the death of our compatriot orally on two different channels by the local police.

So far, a total of three deaths and one are unknown.
Eight others were injured, one of them in serious condition. The explosion partially destroyed a building next to a school and a nursing home.
According to initial information, the cause of the explosion was a gas leak. The building is owned by the Catholic Church.
