The Bulgarian flag caught fire at a carnival in North Macedonia. This happened at the end of the event in the village of Vevchani, when the masks are traditionally lit, writes local television Alsat.

According to the mayor of the village, the tension between the participants in the carnival has intensified due to the heavy presence of the police. This was the case because the festival was forbidden, but the villagers organized.

Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva ordered the Bulgarian Ambassador to Skopje, Angel Angelov, to express to the government of the Republic of North Macedonia our strong indignation at this act of vandalism, our Foreign Ministry announced. Ambassador Angelov has already made a tough oral management in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia.
