The Sofia metro will have six new stations for BGN 530 million, running from the Military Academy to Tsarigradsko Shosse Blvd., Capital writes, citing the announced public tender for the construction.
The financing is expected to be carried out within the framework of the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan. These are EU funds to overcome the coronary crisis worth 12,000 million BGN, which Bulgaria must defend before the European Commission this spring. This is surprising because in the project presented at the end of 2020 in the railway infrastructure column, the Sofia metro did not appear, the publication comments.
The new stations will be diverted from the Third Line, which now connects Poduyane with Krasno Selo, and in the future – the “Levski” neighborhoods to the northeast and “Ovcha Kupel” to the southwest.
The route will pass from the Military Academy through the Slatina neighborhood and the Armeec hall to Tsarigradsko Shosse in the area of the intersection with Jerusalem Blvd.
For the new 5.7 kilometer metro route, a technical project is ready and the choice of a builder can be started immediately. This is of key importance in this case, as plan funds cannot be rolled over to future periods and must be fully used by 2026, Capital explains.
Builder offers accepted until April 14. The stations are expected to be ready by 2024.
