Probably starting January 18, older students will gradually return to class. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev. Today he is visiting the 143rd “Georgi Benkovski” primary school in Sofia to see how the learning process is going after the return of the children from 1st to 4th grade per hour. According to him, a full week of face-to-face training must first be dedicated, the number of patients must be monitored, and specific decisions must be made.

“The situation of the coronavirus can improve or worsen due to the holidays. If it improves, we will proceed to an alternation mode – a part of the students will be at home, and another – in the classrooms,” explained Valchev.

First through fourth grade students returned to school

“So far we have a normal attendance of young students. Each municipality has the right to temporarily cancel the mandatory presence in kindergartens. We have entire towns where there is no coronavirus and for them that closure was incomprehensible, “said the Minister of Education. He said the funds raised had purchased 10,000 air purifiers.

He also commented on when the students will start teaching again.

“Currently state testing is allowed. We need to have a lasting improvement in the epidemic situation so that students can go back to college, that is, have an average of less than 600 infected people per day over a longer period of time. “Explained the Minister of Education, adding that he expects some 30,000 teachers to express their desire to be vaccinated.

“At the end of the week, the lists of those who want the vaccine will be ready. Vaccines have saved billions of lives since we existed. I think we should believe more in science. We should not be afraid of vaccines, but of the coronavirus “Valchev added.

How are schools and kindergartens preparing for the return of children?

He noted that last year the education system demonstrated that it could go from current learning to e-learning at any time and vice versa.
