The prime minister had a telephone conversation with the Serbian president
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had a telephone conversation with Serbian President Alexander Vucic. The two leaders congratulated each other on the occasion of the new 2021 and expressed their confidence that the excellent relations of friendship and good neighborliness will continue to be actively developed in all areas of mutual interest. During the conversation, emphasis was placed on cooperation in infrastructure and energy, which is extremely important not only for Bulgaria and Serbia, but also for the region and Europe.
Borissov: We have made great efforts to meet all commitments to increase revenue.
Prime Minister Borissov and President Vucic discussed progress in the construction of the Europa motorway, which is part of the main trans-European transport network. The highway is in the direction of London-Budapest-Belgrade-Sofia-Plovdiv-Istanbul-Calcutta and is the shortest road connecting Western Europe to the Middle East.
The Bulgarian prime minister stressed that half a year ahead of schedule in a contract in November 2020, the first 17-kilometer section of the European highway between Dragoman and Slivnitsa was built.
“For the coming new year, we will build a highway between Sofia and Belgrade,” insisted the Bulgarian prime minister.

Another focus of the conversation between Borissov and Vucic was the energy association.
“In the worst COVID-19 pandemic, work continues on energy projects in our country, which is why Serbia is becoming a gas transit country. We have also focused our efforts on building another interconnection between Sofia and Serbia to ensure the security of energy supply, “said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister and the Serbian President stated that as soon as the situation, given the COVID-19 pandemic, allows, the two will meet personally.
