AFTER THE VACCINE: The stories of the first immunized

The new year 2021 began under the sign of the vaccine against COVID-19. While in our country immunization runs in parallel with the debate “for” and “against”, other countries have already gained some experience. The UK is the first in the world to use Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines. And the British MI-5 counterintelligence advised against announcing vaccination sites in advance, in order to avoid sabotage by opponents of the process.

In the UK, vaccination started with the oldest. Jean Lay, 91, was among the first to be vaccinated. Until the age of 84 she worked as a consultant in a store. Now she lives alone, but her daughter Sandra often comes to see her during the pandemic. She comes with her to the vaccination center. And Sandra herself has a fond memory of Bulgaria from the time when traveling was not dangerous.

The Queen of Denmark is being vaccinated against COVID-19

“I spent two very happy weeks at Bansko in 2012. It was fantastic,” recalls Sandra. However, he no longer travels to care for his mother. Until now, the two of them have relied on insulation for their protection.

“She knits a lot. I solve my crossword every day and usually try to be busy. When my daughter visits, she takes me for a walk. I miss the fact that I can’t get on the bus and go downtown, but I have to keep going. the rules and that’s exactly what I do, because I don’t want to be a burden to anyone, ”said Jean.

From now on, they will depend instead of isolation, on the vaccination the old woman has just undergone.

“You only feel when the needle goes in and then a little pressure when they put the fluid in the body.” That is the only thing. I get vaccinated every year to protect myself from the flu in the winter because of my age, and I’ve always been good, ”says Jean about the vaccination process.

BioNTech: There may be a delay in vaccine delivery

To avoid chaos, very strict working hours have been developed in the UK. People are told where and what time to report for an injection.

“They called me last week to tell me that I had an appointment for the vaccination today and they asked me if I could go. I said yes, please and that was it. I will receive the second dose in three weeks to improve the effect of the vaccine,” Jean said.

Many of Jean’s acquaintances also intend to get vaccinated. According to her, conspiracy theories that vaccination is an attempt to control citizens are far from the truth: “Everything is open. There would be serious problems if we did not have the vaccine. Otherwise, there would not be many people left. Hopefully we will get rid of it. virus sometime next year if everyone does what they have to do and get vaccinated. Just be careful and try not to transmit the disease if they are infected, “advises the elderly woman.

Another 20,000 vaccines will be delivered on January 4

According to the British government, more than half a million citizens have been vaccinated since the start of the campaign on December 8. A total of 5 million doses are scheduled to be delivered in January, which will be enough to protect two and a half million people. These are the most vulnerable seniors over the age of 80 and front-line doctors. Among them is Lubomir Kuntorov, who is a clinical pharmacist in the COVID department.

“In England, older people are vaccinated with priority. They started with nursing homes and people at high risk. They received a stay-at-home letter, signed by Boris Johnson. About 500,000 of those vaccines were administered last Friday. Starting this week, vaccinations will begin in all hospitals, “said Lyubomir Kuntorov.
