Germany is shocked by the murder of a 31-year-old Bulgarian woman, whose charred body was found by a passerby on December 18 in a field near the town of Ohtendung, Rhineland-Palatinate.

Initially, the identity of the victim was not established and the Koblenz city police distributed photos of the earring found near the burned body. Police also said the victim was approximately 5 feet tall, 55 kilograms, fair skin and shoulder-length reddish blonde hair.

It later became clear that the victim was Silvia Boycheva, 31, a Bulgarian who lived in the city of Kruft with her 10-year-old son. They raped her, shot her twice in the head and threw her body into the field and set her on fire so that she would not be recognized.

On Christmas Day, Koblenz criminal investigators arrested Sylvia’s friend Mehmet B. However, the man refused to speak. Neighbors of the couple told police that the two drove often.

“Because of their fights, the police often came here,” said a neighbor.

Supervising prosecutor Rolf Wissen told local media that he was shocked to see the charred body and the unspeakable cruelty with which the murder was committed. “The victim was flooded with gasoline and set on fire,” he said.

However, the prosecution and the police refused to provide further information, as many interrogations and additional information are pending regarding the relationship between the Bulgarian woman and her friend, which ended in her brutal murder.
