Croatia has received the first shipments of humanitarian aid from Bulgaria, according to the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Two S-27J Spartan military transport aircraft with crews from the Bulgarian Air Force, loaded with humanitarian aid from Bulgaria for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Croatia on December 29, 2020, successively landed at Zagreb airport before noon.

Representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Zagreb, the Croatian Civil Protection Service and the Ministry of Defense, as well as the European Commission, attended the unloading of the trucks.

An additional shipment of humanitarian aid from Bulgaria is expected to arrive in Zagreb later today. It will also be carried by C-27J “Spartan” military transport. The complete shipment from Bulgaria contains 500 folding beds, of which 300 with mattresses and 100 radiators.

In front of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Croatia, Genka Georgieva, Fleet Admiral Milan Junic of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia and Tomislav Marevic, Head of the Civil Defense Operational Readiness Service, thanked the Bulgarian government and the Bulgarian people for their quick and timely response. They described the aid as solidarity, confirming the strong friendship between the Bulgarian and Croatian peoples, dating back centuries.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalls that on December 30, 2020, the Council of Ministers allocated 100,000 euros through the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help Croatia recover from the earthquake. Urgent deliveries of mineral water to the country have also been organized.
