The world is sending out 2020 and celebrating the new year in an unusual way. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, restrictions have been placed on traditional New Year celebrations in most countries. From Sydney to New York, public gatherings are banned, especially amid fears of a new, more contagious strain of the disease. The new year arrived in New Zealand at 1:00 p.m. Bulgarian time today. In a remote island nation, there are only a small number of restrictions, as authorities have managed to control the coronavirus epidemic. This is probably the only place on the planet where people had the opportunity to attend live New Years fireworks.

Two hours later, in 2020, it shipped to Australia. The traditional New Years bonfire still took place in Sydney Harbor, Australia’s largest city, but without an audience.

Police and military forces have been deployed from France to Brazil to monitor the afternoon hours and ban gatherings.

The French will welcome the new year in quarantine. The afternoon schedule remains in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and offenders are fined 135 euros. 100,000 police and gendarmerie officers have been mobilized to comply with the restrictions.

“This year is much more special. We will be in a tighter circle. We will try to save the festive atmosphere and have fun.” Seafood gives a festive spirit and will bring a little joy to our hearts, “said Engran Babine, a Paris resident.

The world celebrates the New Year without great gatherings and concerts

However, New Year’s Eve will not pass without a festive program. At midnight, a pre-recorded David Geta concert will be broadcast in front of the Louvre. Electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre will give a spectacular virtual concert from Notre Dame Cathedral.

The American singer Patti Smith will offer an online concert in the British capital London, which has been severely affected by the coronavirus. It will be dedicated to the deceased health workers.

This year there will be no New Years party in the famous Times Square in New York. However, traditionally, the crystal ball is dropped, measuring the last seconds of the previous year.

“There is nothing better than walking through the crowds of Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Last year, more than 1 million people came together, joyful and happy. This year, however, it will be different, but all of the past year has been different. Let’s leave 2020 on the books, 2021 is coming up and it will be a much better year, “said New York Police Chief Terence Monahan.

NYPD closed the famous car and pedestrian plaza 24 hours before the New Year to avoid crowds.
