So far, the Ministry of Education has received more than 700 requests for online training after the New Year. The reason is that as of January 4, face-to-face training is resumed for students from 1st to 4th grade, complying with the previous measures.

AT SCHOOL STARTING JANUARY 4: Students in grades 1-4 will study in person

All schools are now ready to receive students. However, for 704 children, education will continue electronically. In many cases, the desire to learn from home is due to children living or having frequent contact with adult relatives. The statement is sent to the directors. This can happen after January 4 and will take effect five business days after filing. At the same time, the teachers signed an application to continue teaching electronically.

Nikolai Hamov has three children. His two daughters are students and his son is in kindergarten. The father has filed e-learning statements because he does not believe it is safe in schools and hopes that the number of infected will increase due to the holidays.

“We are not infected yet in the family. My wife and I are years old and we are isolated. At the end of the year, the children will be in distance learning, and this may be limited if we get vaccinated in the meantime,” Hamov said.

Many teachers are also concerned about infection. For this reason, at school 125 in Sofia, students will wear masks during class.

“We have created an organization for children to wear masks. During the break the windows will be opened to ventilate and then they will be able to take off their protective equipment, have breakfast and rest,” explained the director of the school Venelina Nikolova.

There are almost 30 e-learning applications in the school and 660 students in the primary stage. Teachers will be paid extra for them.

In 51 schools, 14 parents applied for e-learning. Your children will study at the same time as those in the class, because the school is one of the few where cameras are installed in the classrooms. Despite the measures, there are also teachers who prefer to teach fully electronically.

“They will take a break and look for their substitutes. However, there are not many teachers who are afraid. Out of 80, there are three or four,” explained 51 Elisaveta Bagryan High School principal Asen Alexandrov.

“There are classes where the teachers insist and the children wear masks. There we agree where the children wear masks, to go out more often, to get air and to ventilate the classroom well,” added Alexandrov.

They give teachers extra money for the internet.

“Opening schools without wearing masks, in my opinion, is more or less a crime both against teachers and against other parents,” said Nikolai Hamov.

The Ministry of Education insists that the youngest students will return to classes on January 4. Depending on how the first week goes, it will be discussed when students in grades 5-12 will return to school.
