The Varna Court of Appeal confirmed the handover from France to a Bulgarian citizen wanted by the authorities in the city of Beauvais. This was announced on the website of the Varna Court of Appeal.

Ivan H. was declared wanted for the commission of 4 crimes: arrest, kidnapping or illegal deprivation of liberty; cause bodily harm; complicity in theft; the driver’s refusal to obey a stop sign.

We remind you: On January 21 of this year there was a collision between two vehicles. According to the European arrest warrant, while the owner of the injured car was inspecting the damage, three assailants beat him. Then they tied his hands to put him in the car. A witness signaled and the gendarmerie responded. The suspects fled in the victim’s car and tried to avoid a police check. The police used a system to force the vehicle to stop. However, the three managed to escape. Investigators identified one of them as Ivan H. For these acts, the law in France provides for 5 years in prison.

The district court of the French city of Beauvais has issued a European arrest warrant requesting the surrender of the Bulgarian for investigation. Our compatriot was arrested by the police in Novi Pazar on November 20. The Shumen District Court allowed the execution of the European arrest warrant for the surrender of the wanted person. The 25-year-old man appealed the decision to the appeals court. One of the objections of the defense is that it is not possible to establish the degree of participation of Iván in the crimes committed or his specific actions.

According to the representative of the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office, there are no grounds to revoke the decision, since the order was issued by a competent body and all the requirements for its preparation have been met.

Before the Court of Appeals, Ivan H. did not agree to surrender voluntarily.

The appeal body, after considering the materials in the file, the opinions of the parties, and the decision of the Shumen District Court, ruled that it was correct and lawful.

The judicial act of the Court of Appeal – Varna is not subject to appeal.
