Starting at 11 pm on December 29, Turkey will introduce mandatory PCR testing for those entering the country. This is the reason why in recent days at the border checkpoint “Kapitan Andreevo” there are queues of travelers towards Edirne.
Bulgarians from all over the country travel to Turkey to shop, using the last few hours to enter the country without proof. They buy household goods, clothes and medicines, BNT reports.
And today the passengers are not few, in the morning in “Kapitan Andreevo” there were hundreds of cars. The peak was the weekend yesterday.
“Yesterday, which was a day off on our side and the first working day on Turkey’s side. And the passenger flow was 18,000 passengers with about 8,000 vehicles,” said Emil Gochev, head of the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint.
Due to the pandemic and restrictions imposed in Turkey, there are no travelers on vacation. However, the cheap pound is the reason why many households and merchants in our country depend on trade in Turkey. Starting tomorrow, entry only with a negative PCR test.
Queues are expected after 19:00 today, when the points of sale in Turkey close. At the checkpoint, they are ready to withstand the increased traffic. A 7-day quarantine is mandatory for those entering Turkey.
The PCR test is also mandatory for transit passengers.
