Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva is speaking with her Croatian counterpart Gordan Garlic-Radman regarding the devastating earthquake that struck the Balkans earlier this afternoon, the press office of the Foreign Ministry said.

The epicenter was reported in the Croatian city of Petrinja, where it was reported that the people were buried and suffered significant material damage. Unfortunately, a child victim has already been confirmed. “At this difficult time, Bulgaria is ready to support our Croatian friends. We are ready to help. I offer my sincere condolences and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” Zaharieva said.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Zagreb is available to all Bulgarian citizens for assistance in case of need. The diplomatic mission, along with most of the buildings in the Croatian capital, is currently without power, but our staff are online and on duty.
