Fashion designer Pierre Cardin died at the age of 98, reported AFP.
Carden is a French fashion designer of Italian descent, one of the most influential and famous names in fashion history, BTA reported.
In 1947 he worked with Christian Dior and in 1950 he founded his own fashion house. He prefers abstract geometric design. One of the first to use the unisex style (in his 1958 collection), which is considered very avant-garde for its time. One of his muses is the dancer Maya Plisetskaya.
In 1960, she broke with the traditional approach to fashion as an art primarily for women and created the first collection for men. There are about 500 patents. He was one of the first to turn to denim to create a youth fashion line.
“When I leave this world, there will be heirs, of course,” he said. “These are three young designers with great skills who don’t have to copy me,” Pierre Cardin told AFP in 2019.
