“In 2021, we are given hope that is no longer imaginary, it is a fact. Take advantage of it,” said the president of the National Operational Headquarters, Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski in an exclusive interview on “This Morning” on bTV.
Mutafchiiski was one of the first Bulgarians to be vaccinated with the Pfizer drug against the coronavirus.
“I think I should have. Every day I monitor the condition of my colleagues who are sick, in intensive care or in hospital clinics. This is unbearable for me. I have to do it for the people who believe in me. And personally, I am absolutely convinced, “Mutafchiiski said of vaccination.
“A friend of mine, a very intelligent man, a biologist. He had said that he would use penguin tactics and get vaccinated later. What do penguins do? The former jump into the water and the latter look at where the orca is. Well, we jump first. , the orca is gone. It’s time for you to jump too, “Mutafchiiski said about vaccination.
He said he felt good, that the vaccine had no side effects. Just feel the place of the stinger.
According to Mutafchiiski, doctors are the only people that people in crisis still trust. “When a person has pain and illness, he goes to the doctor and hopes for salvation, he does not go to anyone else,” he said.
Regarding the Pfizer vaccine and whether it is really safe and effective, Gen. Mutafchiiski said it was an innovative product. “It is very easy, very inexpensive to implement and very efficient. It does not insert anything into the nucleus of the cell and, perhaps, it is as good and effective as described,” he added.
When asked if many people in our country will remain skeptical about vaccines, Gen. Mutafchiiski said it was too early to draw any conclusions. “Enough data will accumulate to convince the undecided. So far no drug has been tested on 44,000 people, I say that in the most responsible way. Not to mention that the population of our country lightly takes drugs that have not been tested or even by 50 people, which is an absolute fact, ”Mutafchiiski said.
Of measures, uniform and fear
In his balance sheet last year, Gen. Mutafchiiski said it was quite severe. “I’d say it’s interesting, but what’s interesting about it,” he added.
When asked why he had stopped wearing his military uniform, the general said that he was clearly scaring people. “The Bulgarians have forgotten what their military and generals are like. It was not intended to scare people,” Mutafchiiski said.
Regarding his important statements, Mutafchiiski insists that he is not ashamed of a single word and would say the same now.
“We have been victims of our own success. We forgot it, we decided it was not scary. This was not just a process here, but across Europe. People got tired in the first wave. We had to understand the situation in a difficult way.” Mutafchiiski said.
He is adamant that if the spring, when measures against the coronavirus were tighter, our hospitals would not be able to cope with the workload of October, November and December.
Gen. Mutafchiiski also commented that a slight increase in the number of cases is expected with the relaxation of measures, but he hopes that vaccination will also have an impact.
During the last six months, the president of the National Operations Staff has not appeared in a television interview and has stopped giving reports. “You can’t tire people all the time and associate their appearance with hopelessness and fear. I tried to be objective,” Mutafchiiski said. The decision to “get out of the spotlight” was his.
When asked if he was considering a career in politics, Gen. Mutafchiiski insists that this is not his path. “It is about time that the people of our country understand that they must weigh in their place, where they feel more secure and armed with knowledge and experience.” Do not interfere in the place where they work, “he said.
