British pharmacist AstraZeneca has discovered the “winning formula” for the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine, which it developed with experts from the University of Oxford and awaits UK government approval in the coming days, AFP reported.
“We believe that we have found the winning formula to achieve the efficacy of the two-dose vaccine,” the company’s CEO, Pascal Sorio, told the Sunday Times. He said the vaccine provides “100 percent protection” against severe forms of COVID-19, BTA reported.
The British company announced in November the interim results of large-scale trials of the potential vaccine in Britain and Brazil, according to which the vaccine is 70 percent effective against a result of more than 90 percent efficacy of Pfizer vaccines. https://news.google.com/ “Biontech” and “Moderno”.
In the UK, there have been reports that the AstraZeneca vaccine may receive approval for use in the country early next week, after a permit was issued in early December for the Pfizer and Biontech vaccines.
The British government has already agreed to deliver 100 million doses of the vaccine to AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford. According to the British newspaper “Sunday Telegraph”, the distribution of the vaccine in the country will begin on January 4 and the government expects that in the first two weeks more than two million people will be immunized with the first dose of it.
