The European Union and the United Kingdom reached an agreement on trade relations just a week before the United Kingdom left the single market, Reuters reported.
The agency cites a Downing Street source who said it was already clear about currency transactions, borders, trade and fishing.
“We have finally reached an agreement after a long and tortuous journey. It is a good, fair, balanced and responsible deal for both parties,” said EC President Ursula Gertrude von der Leyen at a press conference after the conversations.
The giant clash between Brussels and London turned out not so much economic as political, on the issue of fishing in British waters.
For several days, the negotiations took place at the highest level: between the President of the European Commission and the British Prime Minister.
