Plovdiv city councilors have extended the working hours and scope of the “blue zone” by 29 votes in favor, 10 against and 2 abstentions, a reporter said. Plovdiv24.bg.
The “Blue Zone” in Plovdiv is open all day on Saturdays. Citizens will not use the first 10 minutes of free stay. The price remains the same: 2 leva per hour.
“Expansion of the Blue Zone is inevitable if we want to tidy up the parking lot. We cannot follow the trend of Sofia, Burgas and Varna. Especially in Sofia, where there is a green zone, which is on the periphery of the blue. We want our city The increase in 1 hour is in all the cities that I have listed. We do not look blindly who is doing what, but we believe that in this way we will provide security and increase revenues for the municipal budget, “said Transport Deputy Mayor Todor Chonov. .
BSP did not support the draft amendment to the Ordinance on the procedure for stopping, staying and parking vehicles on the territory of the city of Plovdiv. Yordan Vassilev explained that the increase in working hours and coverage will create even more problems and directly accused the administration of serving several residents of the central area of the city. He recommended that other steps be taken to get out of cars, including the construction of multi-story car parks and the commissioning of the electronic charging system in public transport.
IMRO’s Dimcho Petrov asked that working hours be kept until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and that the freelance Slavi Georgiev stay until 2pm on Saturdays. Both proposals were not supported by his colleagues.
Veselina Alexandrova from democratic Bulgaria drew attention to two texts that create a presumption of rape. “The law says: everyone is innocent until proven otherwise. With two texts in the ordinance we prove otherwise and we will become a laughingstock. Art. 12 para. 1 – we create a presumption of violation, since the compiler can write that there was no coupon in the car. If we accept article 8, paragraph 2, we will become a laughing stock, because we approve that if the support is stolen, the owner of the car is considered guilty. Hypothetically, the acts will be reversed by the court ” – warned and suggested the omission of these texts. His party member Veselka Hristamyan demanded that the entire ordinance be withdrawn, clarified and discussed in the next session. These proposals were also not accepted by the majority of the councilors.
Stefan Poslijski from IMRO recommended together with the administration to start thinking about intermediate parking and encourage the use of public transport. As an option, he suggested that the intermediate parking fee be valid for traveling on city buses, and the benefit will be for both parties: it saves money, the municipality saves cars. He recalled that now electric cars use the “Blue Zone” for free, but over time their number will increase, which will create problems in the future.
Angel Ivanov’s proposal not to withdraw the 10-minute bonus for free parking was also not accepted and, in the end, the charge will be made immediately after taking a parking space.
