Scientist: Drugs against COVID-19 have saved many lives – Drugs

The tests of drugs that give results in the fight against COVID-19 do not stop in the world. In July this year, the director of the Bulgarian Medicines Agency, Bogdan Kirilov, announced that the antiparasitic drug “Ivermectin” gives results in the treatment of patients with coronavirus in nine hospitals in Bulgaria. This is how Ilian Manoylev, assistant of the Laboratory of Experimental Immunology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, told Kmeta.bg about the news about the drugs that scientists are improving in the fight against COVID-19.

According to Manoilev, the drug probably activates the immune system.

Pharmacological treatment of those infected with coronavirus is effective and doctors will confirm this, because medicine is advancing and drugs are improving. The symptoms of the disease are already known, which is very important because otherwise it is not clear how the treatment should go. The fact is that drugs have saved many lives, which means they do serious work, Manoilev added.

The scientist emphasized that the purpose of the vaccine is different: not to get sick at all.
