Anton Hekimyan will run BTV’s morning block for a few more days or weeks until he chooses a replacement. As he has no managerial experience, Martin Schwehlak will work closely with him and train him up front. Schwechlak himself has been Czech TV Nova’s head of news for a long time.

“PPF is determined to invest heavily in new program and content, but needs the confidence that the entire management team will accept the planned changes and work toward meeting business goals,” said Lubos Yetmar, CEO of SME. Bulgaria.

“In 2020, BTV had to adapt its show to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to less investment in content and loss of viewers. My main goal is to reverse this trend by modernizing the program and content and working for more diverse television entertainment and high-quality news on all of our channels. I hired Hristo and Anton because they have the enthusiasm, experience, energy and thirst for innovation that we need to regain our leadership position in Bulgaria ”, explains Martin Schwehlak, CEO of BTV Media Group.

New shows, more local primetime productions, diverse programming and modern content – these will be the innovations in the BTV show in 2021, according to new program director Hristo Hadjitanev. According to the official announcement from BTV, he occupies the new position due to his rich experience and knowledge in TV content, research, consulting and management of projects and TV teams.

Anton Hekimyan was chosen by Martin Schwehlak for his enormous contribution to the success of the BTV newsroom, his strength in presenting topics and reports, and his professional dedication to factual news and facts. “I remain committed to pluralism and objective journalism and will work with the talented and dedicated team at BTV to bring even more viewers to the television screen,” Hekimyan said of his new post.

The decision of the management of “BTV Media Group” is to change the management in the media with internal people, and not to look for specialists outside BTV. At the same time, Martin Schwehlak thanked Margarita Alexandrova and Venelin Petkov for their dedication and professionalism.
