The calendar year in Bulgarian football ended with a controversial penalty and a 2: 1 success for Ludogorets over Botev Plovdiv. This was the latest in a series of postponed matches in the efbet league. Claudiu Kesheru and Dominik Yankov brought success to the Eagles, who will spend the winter in first place with 39 points, 6 more than Loko Plovdiv and CSKA. The hosts’ first goal came from a highly controversial penalty from Nikolay Yordanov. For Botev, Salif Cisse emerged from an ambush shortly before the end of the match. The Canaries, who played with many teenagers, suffered a third consecutive defeat and are in 12th place in the standings with 14 points.
The duel began at a sleepy pace. The hosts established control of the ball but failed to reach clear goal positions in the first 15 minutes. Only Kiril Despodov hit the “Canarias” door, but Georgi Argilashki caught the ball.
In the 18th minute after Ludogorets took the second corner in the match, goalkeeper Georgi Argilashki scored with one hand. However, the ball landed on Mavis Chibota’s volley, whose shot, however, went over the crossbar. A minute later Dominik Yankov escaped from two Botev defenders and fired, but Argilashki killed. Ludogorets continued to create slight tension in front of Argilashki’s door until the 35th minute. But only that.
In the 38th minute Ludogorets received a penalty. Mavik Chibota went through the center and fired. The ball bounced off Viktor Genev and referee Nikolay Yordanov pointed to the white spot. The replays showed that the referee’s decision was highly controversial, as Genev’s hand was tightly closed to the body at the moment of contact with the ball. Claudiu Kesheru mercilessly scored the punch and Ludogorets took the lead with 1: 0.
In the last minute of the first half, Kiril Despodov made an excellent attempt down the left wing and passed into the penalty area. The ball reached Abel Anise, who shot very hard from the goal, but the ball hit the crossbar and went wide.
Ludogorets scored a second goal in the 50th minute. Then Mavis Chibota broke down the left flank and passed Claudiu Kesheru. The Romanian forward stopped the ball for the invader from second position Dominique Yankov, who shot very hard under the crossbar and scored a second goal for Ludogorets.
The hosts remained more active on the pitch after the second goal. Mavis Chibota broke well down the left wing, spun around its axis and took a good shot. However, the ball was caught by Georgi Argilashki.
In the 67th minute, Kiril Despodov launched a direct free kick. Georgi Argilashki, however, killed the ball. A few minutes later, Botev had a great chance to score. The Salif Cisse booking was very well done. He flew the two Ludogorets players and passed the young Ivan Vassilev. He shot immediately but was unlucky and the ball bounced off Plamen Iliev’s left post.
In the 89th minute Botev scored a goal in Ludogorets’ goal. One minute after making his debut in the Bulgarian elite, Stefan Popov took out Salif Cisse in a wonderful way, who was left alone before goalkeeper Plamen Iliev who was not wrong and realized for the “Canaries”. However, replays showed that Botev’s player was in ambush.
At the end of the match, Botev launched an attack and hit a free kick and two corners. However, referee Nikolay Yordanov played the end of the match just before the execution of the second corner kick. Thus, Ludogorets beat Botev Plovdiv 2: 1 in the last game of the year in national football.
