“I received the signal of a leak at 19:05 on Wednesday from 112. At 19:22 the police and firefighters were on the scene and the area was cordoned off,” said the mayor of the city Valentin Panayotov on the program “Hello Bulgaria” in NOVA.
“Absolutely all the people were taken out quickly and properly. We created an organization very quickly. The city has a central alarm system – sirens. But I did not turn it on so as not to cause panic. The police and firefighters were able to visit all the houses in the area and remove people, some of whom are adults, ”said the mayor.
According to him, shortly before 8:00 p.m. a large part of the population around the station was evacuated. Later, Chief Inspector Svilen Rachev managed to turn off the tap.
Thanks to the quick and appropriate reaction of the fire brigade and the police, the gas leak was stopped and people arrived home shortly before midnight.
“There was a strong smell of gas in the city,” the mayor said.
“I received information from police chief Mr. Penev and chief inspector Svilen Rachev that the crane of the ninth tank after the locomotive was developed and only had stamps from the transport company” Gastrade “, he added.
The cause of the accident is clarified.
Representatives of the transport company arrived at the scene and, after verifying that the escape was stopped, they released the train that was leaving for Sofia.
