Massive dissatisfaction with high heating bills at the beginning of the heating season.
And the capital’s Toplofikatsiya reports a drastic increase in consumption in November. The jump is around 29% compared to November last year. According to them, the main factor of the difference is the colder weather compared to the same month of 2019, but also the transition from work to home, as well as e-learning for students.
EWRC: Prices for heating, hot water and electricity do not change
The cold this year started in October and therefore the heating season started 5 days earlier than last year.
For energy expert Vasil Nachev, there is another explanation for the higher bills.
Sofia District Heating has correctly calculated compensation invoices
“A new calculation, which has been adopted by EWRC, to change the price of heating once a year. According to the new Bulgargaz contract, they present a different price, but so that there is no doubt and so that people are safer, just there will be a balance at the end of the year. Those who are in the plus will be returned to them, and those who are in the least will pay an extra “, explained Vasil Nachev.
And due to the longer stay at home during the pandemic, Nachev insists that not only heating bills have increased, but also those for alternative heating – electricity or gas.
“We save on transportation costs by staying at home, but we pay more for heating,” explained Vasil Nachev.
