Today was the draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League. In spring we will witness unique clashes, since the match that arouses the most interest is the clash between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Trophy winner Bayern Munich will face Lazio, while Real Madrid record holder will have a seemingly easy task after losing to another Italian team, Atalanta.

English champions Liverpool will face tough team RB Leipzig, who eliminated Manchester United in the group stage. Juventus drew the easiest opponent, at least on paper, Porto.

The clash between the unpredictable Atlético de Madrid and English Chelsea should not be underestimated.

The matches of the eighth final phase of the tournament are scheduled for February 16/17/23/24, 2021 (first matches) and March 9/10/16/17 (rematch) according to the program.

Before the draw, it had to be taken into account that the teams that obtained the first place in their groups could face those that finished second. UEFA regulations establish that in the eighth of the final phase, teams that have competed against each other in the group phase, as well as those from the same country, will not be able to compete. These things lose their value after the quarterfinal stage.

Here’s how the teams were distributed prior to the draw:

Placed teams: Bayern Munich (Germany), Real Madrid (Spain), City of Manchester (England), LiverpoolEngland), ChelseaEngland), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), JuventusItaly), Paris Saint Germain (France)
