Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in F1. The Red Bull driver started from pole position, led from start to finish and finished with a 15.976sec lead ahead of Valteri Botas with Mercedes. World champion Lewis Hamilton finished third at 2,349 behind Boots.

The air temperature in the last race of 2020 was 24 degrees, and that of the track, 28.

The best start was made by Max Verstappen, followed by Boots and Hamilton. In the middle of the column, Vettel passed in front of his teammate, and Verstappen began to drive a gap with Walter on the first lap.

After the first 5 laps, the leader was Verstappen with an advantage of about 2.5 seconds through Boots, and Hamilton was still behind the Finn. Back in qualifying, Vettel and Löckler battled for twelfth place.

10 laps after the start of the race, Sergio Pérez was damaged in his car and stopped on the track, leading him to a virtual safety car. The Red Bull and Mercedes drivers took advantage of this, stopping in the pits and putting on hard tires. Shortly after them, almost all of the competitors stopped at the cake.

One lap later on the track a real safety car came out.

After the resumption of the race, Max was back to his best and set the fastest lap, and Carlos Sainz overtook Charles Löckler.

A few rounds later, Stroll unsuccessfully attacked Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz was investigated for moving too slow in a pitlane. Soon after, Charles was attacked and outmaneuvered by Stroll and Gasley.

At the head of the column, Max Verstappen continued to control the race with an advance of about 4 seconds ahead of Boots. They were followed by Hamilton, Albon, Ricciardo, Norris and Sainz. Shortly after, Loeckler pitted in search of a new set of hard tires and won.

30 laps after the start of the last race of the 2020 season in the first position was still Verstappen with a lead of about 7 and a half seconds ahead of Boots. Third and fourth were Hamilton and Albon.

A few laps later Vettel still hadn’t pitted and, at the end of the column, Loeckler was ahead of George Russell. A lap later Sebastian swapped his hard tires in between and returned to a position behind Russell.

40 rounds after the start of the race, Verstappen led by about 8 seconds over Boots, who was more than 3 seconds ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. In the middle of qualifying, Kimi Raikkonen defended himself against Charles Löckler’s attacks.
In the final 10 laps, the leaders began to catch up with the drivers at the bottom of the column, and Verstappen complained of strong vibrations in the car.
By the end of the final race of the 2020 season, Max had increased his lead to 12 seconds and Löckler received a warning for running off the track. Haas driver Kevin Magnussen made his last stop as an F1 driver.

In the end, Verstappen recorded a second win of the season, followed by Boots and Hamilton. Fourth was Alex Albon ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz. Ricardo, Pierre Gasley, Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll added the top 10. The fastest route was recorded by Daniel Ricciardo: 1: 40.926.
