Joshua knocked out the Bulgarian in the ninth round after a brutal right hook that left no chances for Pulev.

It’s an indisputable fact that the Cobras performed better than they did in the game against Wladimir Klitschko years ago, but in eight of the nine rounds Joshua landed stronger and more accurate shots. Thus, the Briton recorded a victory №24 in his enviable career.

Joshua after fight with Pulev: it was a difficult match

Here’s how the game played out in London:

As always, Kubrat Pulev performed the popular Bulgarian song “Prituri se planinata”.

The time has come for Kubrat Pulev!

ROUND 9

Joshua started with two left fastballs, but our boxer fought back with a left-right and injured his opponent. Anthony greeted Kubrat with a close left hook. Four uppercuts followed on Cobra’s head, but he remained on his feet. Seconds later, however, a new uppercut came and the Cobra fell into the ring, but was immediately on his feet. Yet another right hook followed, and Kubrat lay on the ground after his nose was broken.

ROUND 8

The round saw a solid right to the head of Joshua, who responded with two hooks, but they were carried away by the Bulgarian’s gloves. Kubrat withdrew in an attempt to attack Joshua, who took the lead and scored a right hook.

ROUND 7

Joshua got his rhythm back in the seventh round and worked his legs really well. The Englishman tried uppercuts, but the Bulgarian resisted. He also managed to land a powerful right hook to the head of Joshua, who immediately sought the clinch. By the end of the round, Joshua attempted the uppercut on Pulev’s chin.

ROUND 6

Kubrat started with enthusiasm and placed his left right on Joshua’s head. The two went into a clinch. In it, the Bulgarian struck good shots. Pulev took a left straight and the Brit kept looking for the clinch and then hitting.

ROUND 5

Joshua attacked with the uppercut, including the other hand. However, Kubrat seemed to recover after the terrible third round and played freely. Joshua took a left straight into his body, the two competing. The cobra received the uppercut and began to double, but took a chance in this situation. A great attack from our boxer followed, spiced up with a right left.

ROUND 4

Kubrat was still not in good shape after the falls, but he hit hard with his left and right hand, misleading Joshua about his condition. The cobra moved forward and no longer allowed AJ to fight. Twice the Cobra attempted a solid left and right hand combination, but the Brit still avoided Kubrat’s blows.

ROUND 3

Kubrat tried to push early in the third round, and Joshua staggered over the ropes. Then the champion brilliantly found the Cobra’s head with a forehand right, even though Pulev was retiring. He was rocked after a series of right hooks in which he took a double-digit number of punches to the head. Joshua also put the uppercut on the Bulgarian’s head and he fell into a knockdown. Seconds later, Pulev was on the ground again.

ROUND 2

Joshua’s tactics were high. However, the Bulgarian boxer showed serious defense and AJ rarely managed to hit him. Kubrat sent the Briton to the ropes and found him with his left right to the body. The first serious attack went to Joshua, who made a triple series to the Bulgarian’s head, and Kubrat responded with a smile. Pulev tried his powerful left hook, but it missed Joshua’s head. Kubrat continued a bit more aggressively with a left right. Joshua began to attack the Bulgarian’s abdomen.

ROUND 1

The two boxers started with straight guards, and in the first seconds there were no direct hits. Joshua was the first to try to find the Bulgarian’s head with his left right, but without success. Kubrat kept his distance and tried to attack Joshua’s body. The Englishman scored the first hit, which, however, did not affect the Cobras. A straight left followed at Kubrat’s head. He showed enviable speed during the first round. He tried to hit the left hook to Joshua’s head, but missed.

Among the onlookers in the room was legend Floyd Mayweather.

The Cobra had to wait six years for its second chance to become No. 1 in the heaviest, after being knocked out in late 2014 by then-elite dominator Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg. So far, this was the only loss in the Bulgarian’s professional career.

It turned out that Anthony had gained muscle mass since his last appearance in the ring a year ago. It now weighs 109.2 kilograms, 500 grams more than the Cobra. The Londoner has a height advantage: 198cm against 194cm. He traditionally prepared for this match with his personal mentor Rob McCracken. He practiced with ten different boxers, trying to adapt to whatever specific style Pulev could offer him.
