Important News for Northwest Drivers. Starting this Saturday, the international highway E-79 between Mezdra and Botevgrad will be rehabilitated for traffic.

In recent days, temporary handrails and signs have been placed to meet the deadline. The route has been closed for half a year due to a major reform, which provides for the construction of a four-lane highway due to increased traffic on many occasions after the launch of “Danube Bridge 2”.

Starting this Saturday, the vehicles will once again circulate on two lanes, but renewed, and the construction of the rest will continue. Due to the expansion, hundreds of thousands of tons of rock have been removed from the adjacent slopes and tunnels will be built.

The launch of the section was postponed several times and this further annoyed drivers, for whom alternative but not very suitable routes were determined. Traffic is expected to start in the early afternoon, RIA reported.
