Uncertainties for students too! Some of them can continue studying online after the New Year. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev, in an online meeting with parents. The decision to continue the lessons remotely or in person will be made again locally. And it will depend on the situation in the specific settlement.

After January 4, the priority will be to return to class first for toddlers, grades 1-4. Only then will you think of children from 5th grade onwards. Again on the table there is an option in which some of the children go to class on a schedule, alternating different classes.

Important information about families of 7th and 12th graders who are about to graduate. The Minister of Education stated that it is possible that some of the last topics in the textbooks will be removed from the interrogation.

There is no risk that the school year will be declared zero even if distance education lasts longer, the Minister of Education is categorical.

“This year it is very possible that we will have less loss of school time than even previous years. We do not have excursions, we do not have 2-3 weeks for flu holidays, so at the moment we do not have prerequisites to talk about not having it take into account the school year, ”Valchev explained.

However, post-7th and 12th exams are expected to be based on a smaller volume of material.

“The external evaluation will be carried out safely. It is not a problem to exclude several subjects.” If a student reads more, he will not pass, so to speak, “said the minister.

Younger students will also have exams.

“We need an external evaluation for 4th and 10th grade. In this way we have an objective evaluation of the work of the schools and the teaching staff,” Valchev said.

10 days of additional leave for teachers who have passed COVID-19

Since the beginning of the school year, schools have purchased 18,000 new devices for students. However, this does not meet the needs of all children, acknowledged the Ministry of Education.

“We cannot and will not buy 700,000 devices, as many as children, but the system with the equipment available and the additional funds provided allows us to deliver more devices to more children who cannot learn,” the minister explained.

Schools now have the means not only to buy devices, but also to pay for the Internet for children in need.

According to them, according to the inability of the family to provide Internet. School budgets were supported with additional funds, ”added Valchev.

SCHOOL FROM HOME: Longer school year for some students

Unlike distance learning in the spring, when nearly 36,000 children did not participate in online lessons, their number has now dropped to 30,000. However, not everyone is right for the lack of a device.

“Parents and children who do not want to participate fully in e-learning. The fact is that we have more than 10% of students, even more than 15, who are insufficiently committed to the learning process in general,” explained the Minister.

And after talking with the Minister of Health, it was decided, exceptionally, that students with special educational needs have the right to individual meetings with teachers in schools and support centers.
