Prof. Georgi Mikhailov

Not true: both he and Dr. Timchev examined every day from 7 to 17:30, refuted the accusations of the head nurse Vanya Lambreva

BSP MP oncologist Professor Georgi Mihailov, who in mid-November went to help coronavirus patients in hospital who ran out of doctors and nurses in Svishtov, did not enter the COVID ward and did not stay an hour in the infected environment. This information appeared on Wednesday in some sites, and was confirmed to “24 hours” by the manager of the hospital Ilian Venkov. However, it turned out to be incorrect.

Professor Mihailov and his BSP colleague, Dr. Ilian Timchev, were assigned to the Danube city during the campaign announced by Cornelia Ninova that party doctors would become volunteers on the front line.

“Monday (November 16 ba) They arrived in Svishtov, entered the hospital on Tuesday and left on Friday morning. It created chaos and nothing else. The man is a professor, he thinks we are a university hospital, ”said Ilian Venkov. He is deputy mayor, he was also a candidate for municipal councilor on the GERB list.

According to him, Professor Mihailov escalated the whistleblowers and instead of helping,

He arrived at the hospital at 10 o’clock and

at 4 pm he retired to the hotel

at the expense of the municipality. According to the specialist, most of the patients in the crowded COVID ward did not need hospital treatment. “But what does it mean to bring back a person with respiratory difficulties, with dropped saturation indicators? He returned them, left and then these people arrived at the hospital in critical condition, some died, ”Venkov said. The hospital also said the teacher’s volunteering only created tension.

“These accusations are completely false and this can be verified,” Professor Georgi Mihailov told 24 Chassa. During the five days that he and Dr. Timchev were in the hospital, Ilian Venkov was quarantined and did not even set foot there, Mihailov said. A 24-hour check confirmed this.

In early November, Venkov volunteered for the hospital’s COVID ward, along with Mayor Gencho Genchev. On November 15, it became clear that he had become infected and was in home quarantine. A day later the BSP doctors arrived and Velev could not have been in the hospital. And on November 23, he was urgently admitted to Sofia because his condition worsened.

“I guarantee you that Prof. Mihailov and Dr. Timchev stayed the five days

at the hospital starting at 7 pm

in the morning until 5.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

and sometimes more, ”said Vanya Lambeva, a senior nurse at the hospital who worked with the doctors during her stay there. He explained that they had made visits, prescribed treatment and examined in the waiting room, in the room where rapid test positive patients awaited their PCR result, and in the COVID room itself.

“The patients asked about them after they left,” Lambeva added. Upon arrival, Professor Mihailov told the internal medicine department doctors on Tuesday to stay home and rest while they replaced them.

Svishtov Hospital now employs 5 medical students. They are on call on COVID patients and the situation is currently under control. The mayor of the town, Gencho Genchev, returned to the care of the sick, entered the ward, but became infected and was in home quarantine for 14 days.
