Bulgarian journalists are discriminated against by Pulev – Joshua

A great international scandal matured on the eve of the clash for four championship belts in the category of heavyweight boxing among the Bulgarians Kubrat Pulev and Englishman Anthony Joshua, reports Boec.bg..

For a week, Bulgarian journalists who want to cover the meeting have been subjected to ugly discrimination by the promotion company “Matchroom Boxing Limited”. The company is owned by Joshua’s personal manager, Eddie Hearn. From “Matchroom Boxing Limited” native media must also receive accreditations for the event. From there, however native media representatives are constantly mocked and hanged and it seems increasingly likely that there is no Bulgarian journalist in the party.

Even Bulgarian commentator Ognyan Georgiev, who will comment on the DAZN platform, has been denied access.

“Matchroom Boxing Limited” is authorized by the UK authorities to broadcast to willing journalists specially approved by the authorities letter of release from the mandatory 14-day quarantine. However, the company is constantly inventing reasons to prevent the group of 12 Bulgarian media representatives who have expressed their desire to cover the meeting on the spot, from providing everything necessary.

От “Matchroom” announced for the first time that only British authorities could admit Bulgarian journalists in the territory of the country without quarantine. Following the intervention of the Bulgarian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the assistance of Chancellery, it turned out that this was not true.

Journalists coming to work in the UK are exempt from the quarantine period“, the British write to their colleagues at the Ministry of Sports.

Here is a new version of “Matchroom”: Bulgarians are late with accreditations. In fact, no deadline has been set for them, no options have even been given.

A new excuse followed: Bulgarian journalists must remain in a “bubble” of isolation for 7 days (the hotel where Pulev is staying), which means they have to leave it days after the end of the match between Pulev and Joshua.

At the same time, however Anthony Joshua entered the bubble in question only today, which would mean that he himself violates these rules.. In reality, however, there are no such provisions and this was categorically explained by the British Ministry, which sent a reply to Sports Minister Krasen Kralev.

Representatives of the Bulgarian media must present an international journalistic card, a letter from the employer containing the personal details, name and contact address of the employer or editor-in-chief, as well as confirmation that he is traveling to the UK on official business, “the letter read.

Robert Smith from the British Boxing Council also kindly replied to the Bulgarian journalists that can cover Pulev’s match against Joshua without first being placed in 7-day isolation and that everything depends on the promotion agency.

“Matchroom” immediately finds another excuse to avoid the Bulgarians: There are no vacancies in the hotel where the teams are staying. However, inspection shows that there is even a complete free floor.

What is the reason for Eddie Hearn’s people’s actions can only be guessed, but it is the fact that not a single Bulgarian journalist does everything possible for the company not to reflect the fight of the century for Bulgarian boxing.
