THE FIRST OF THREE YEARS: A powerful geomagnetic storm sweeps the Earth

When clouds with solar plasma are expected

The Earth will survive Thursday night its first powerful geomagnetic storm in several years, caused by the ejection of coronary matter from the Sun, which took place on Monday, reported TASS. The agency cites a statement from the Russian Academy of Sciences X-ray Astronomy Laboratory.

The sun has risen stronger in years

The first clouds with solar plasma are expected tomorrow morning, December 9, around 0: 20-0: 30 Bulgarian time. The main eruption will reach the orbit of our planet around 21-23 hours (Bulgarian time) on the same day. The entire planet will be charged with solar matter in a period of no more than one day until mid-December 10, according to the report.

Scientists point out that this geomagnetic storm will be caused by a relatively weak solar flare of class C7.4, which was recorded yesterday. This event became the third manifestation of light activity in recent weeks. The data shows that the star is gradually ‘waking up’ after the period of low activity, which began in September 2017.

A magnetic storm hit the country

The new eruption of the Sun took place in the same region where the most powerful event of the year occurred earlier, recorded at the end of November. The solar zone at that time was not directed at Earth and the expelled plasma passed through our planet, the agency recalls.
