The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge left London, where they left a message to all those who work in the field of transport “that, thanks to them, movement in the country is possible”.

The first stop on the actual journey was Edinburgh. There they met with Scottish paramedics and ambulance personnel and thanked them. The couple also learned about the problems doctors are facing, as well as the impact of the pandemic on mental health. Throughout the year, William and Kate launched a series of charities and research on the human psyche.

William and Kate’s second stop was Berwick-upon-Tweed. There they gave a very special lesson for the youngest students of the local school. The dukes met with teachers and talked about how they were dealing with the pandemic.

Prince William’s wife had the opportunity to meet Len Gardner in person, an 85-year-old retiree with whom Kate had spoken on the phone for months as part of a volunteer program. The two met in the woman’s hometown of Battle, which is the third stop on the royal journey.

The family shares every step on social media. At a time when virtual contact is extremely important, they try to keep communication alive. During the trip, they also ask their followers questions on social media, making them guess their next stop.

The fourth city they visited was Manchester. There they became familiar with the activities of charities serving families in need.

“Catherine and I feel that it is extremely important to meet at least some of the characters who are saving people this year. We want to thank them for all they do,” Prince William told volunteers.

The second day of the couple’s royal tour began in Cardiff, where William and Kate met with the students. The Duke and Duchess got the holiday spirit at “Christmas Castle,” where they ate marshmallows and played the role of “Secret Santa Claus” for some of the students.

Although the royal couple were greeted with smiles and admiration in many places, some Edinburgh residents did not approve of their visit. They have sent hundreds of signals to the police that the Dukes of Cambridge are violating anti-epidemic measures. The regulations establish that it is forbidden to travel to zones 3 and 4, where the incidence is very high.

“I have not been able to visit my grandchildren in Edinburgh since August, and they can walk undisturbed. Why don’t you arrest them?” Says one of the posts on social media.
