On the occasion of a report broadcast on the morning block of bTV, in which it is alleged that an excavator continues to dig, the company “Auto Factor” EOOD, a concessionaire of Central Beach-Sozopol, released the following statement to the media:
The fears that locals share that the beach is being damaged are definitely not true. Once again we declare that sand is not extracted from the sea nor are protective dikes built. Only protection activities on the beach are carried out using the “counterboard” method, the objective of which is to preserve the integrity of the sandy strip and prevent it from being swept away by storms during winter.
These activities are strictly in accordance with legal requirements and in accordance with our obligations under the concession contract. We remind you that before the start of protection activities on the “Sozopol – Central” sea beach, with official letters we have notified the Ministry of Tourism, Watershed Directorate and the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water.
The boatswain formed at the bottom of the beach does not harm the flora or fauna in any way, nor does it affect the environment. Its only function is to counteract the force of the waves.
Accusations that these protective activities take place in the middle of the night and suggest that something is wrong are definitely not true. The shots taken in the dark part of the day find their logical explanation in the well-known fact that at this time of year the sunset occurs at 4:40 p.m. The workers involved in the activity were unable to finish within the daylight portion, so they were allowed to finish after dark.
We express a firm position that our actions comply with the requirements of the law and with them we protect the beach, which we believe is in the public interest.
The concession company “Auto Factor” has many years of experience in this field and over the years it has demonstrated its professionalism, not allowing breaches of its obligations under the concession contracts, including the obligation to protect the integrity of the strip during all year.
