Zaev remains optimistic
At the same time, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev remains optimistic that Bulgaria may abandon the announced veto for the start of accession talks for North Macedonia at the end of the year within the German presidency, Nezavisen Vesnik reported.
However, there is no sign from the Bulgarian side in this regard.
Zaev confirmed that communication channels with the Republic of Bulgaria are constantly open and that intense talks are being held on the issues raised as an obstacle to the agreement on the adoption of the negotiating framework for the Republic of North Macedonia for the start of negotiations for accession to the EU.
He called the statement by Bulgarian Defense Minister Krassimir Karakachanov constructive during a radio interview yesterday and noted that the conversation shows that Karakachanov has no problem accepting the existence of the Macedonian language and the Macedonian people.
